Museum of Aboriginal Cultures
This cultural foundation displays over 5,000 archaeological pieces from the different indigenous cultures of Ecuador in a spacious, well-lit loft. You can see many classic items like painted jugs and pots with anthropomorphic handles, or more unusual ones like zoomorphic (animal-shaped) whistles and even a shrunken head. The museum is a little short on explanation signs, so you are best taking a tour, which can be done in English or in French. There also is an on-site restaurant, a library and a well-stocked souvenir shop. Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Closed Sundays.
